A buddy recruiter of mine said that the Air Force is trying to get new linguists into languages they already know. I'd say have no problem understanding and explaining perfective and imperfective. Coming here not knowing what a direct object is will kill you, but I think that's impossible to get here not knowing that. If I could offer you one tip, it would be to KNOW how at least one other language works. You are not going to get Japanese, everyone wants that, and only prior service/officers even get it. IF you pass the DLAB, then you qualify for ANY language they offer. You can be sent to an assignment where you use your language or you can be stuck in a unit with normal Army bs. In Air force as a linguist you will be using your language and always be involved in some kind of mission. I am looking to join the US Air Force to change my life, to fit my career needs I am leaning more toward reserves, but I noticed the pay is t too high and I kind of need to help my family.
